After signs of recovery in 1937, the economy crashes again as tens of thousands attempt to move West in search of jobs. Resentment in the West grows against the "Okie" immigrants. The 1939 World's Fair's focus is on peace as WWII dawns. Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath is published and Pearl Harbor is attacked as the Great Depression is displaced in the American Mind.
